Questions and Answers About Your Subscription or
Donation
Q.
What does a subscription cover?
A. No
additional out-of-pocket expense will occur if your insurance
company does not pay the entire balance of your bill, provided
deductibles and co-payments are met. Federal Law requires
ambulance services to collect co-payments and deductibles. It also
entitles you to unlimited emergency service and conditional
non-emergency, but medically necessary transfers.
Q.
What does a subscription not cover?
A.
Un-authorized usage of non-emergency ambulance transportation with
HMO's. As with most HMO's you must get pre-authorization before any
medical procedure is performed, non-emergency ambulance
transportation is no different. If you do not get pre-authorization
for non-emergency ambulance transportation you will be
responsible for the full amount of the bill. (Note: In the
event of an emergency do not stop to get pre-authorization from your
HMO for ambulance service. Any delays in notifying EMS in an
emergency situation should be avoided, as a rule in an emergency,
phone EMS first your insurance company second.
Q.
Why doesn't my subscription cover transport by ambulance to a
doctor's office?
A.
According to Medicare and all other insurance carriers, transport by
ambulance to and from a doctor's office for any reason is not
medically necessary. Medicare, unfortunately, is not influenced by
patient condition. You can still be transported by ambulance to a
doctor's office, but you will be responsible for the cost.
Q. Do
I have to subscribe to an ambulance service and if I don't subscribe
can I still use Rescue 8's services?
A.
Subscription is not a requirement and yes you can still use
Rescue 8's services, non-subscribers will just be subjected to
higher out of pocket expenses and be responsible for any unpaid
balance the insurance company did not pay.

received from ambulance subscription and donations go?
